Help! My Biz Has Been Infected!

Last Wednesday my son, Thomas, was sitting on the sofa in the living room and he
was using our new Laptop I bought about 2 weeks ago. He called me in and said
he couldn't get rid of this site asking for credit card details that was on the screen.
Being the "all knowing" and "can fix anything" Dad, I took charge of the Laptop
and tried to delete the annoying site. Uh Oh! Warnings and porn sites started
coming up on the screen so I just shut it off.

"I'll fix it in a minute son" I told Thomas but I had this inkling that it was going to
take more than a minute. I returned to my Desktop computer and was finishing
updating one of my Lenses when the same thing happened and everything locked
up. You don't want to know what I yelled after that...it wasn't pretty!

After I calmed down I had to make a plan of attack. I've been hit with viruses before
and pried them out. Actually felt kind of satisfied after I defeated the little devils
and deleted them. Checking the Laptop, I found out the Windows Firewall was down
(it was turned off by mistake) but it was up on my Desktop so that didn't make any
difference. I ran the "purchased" security devices I have installed and they tracked
down a "Trojan" virus but could not quarantine or delete all the associated files.

So, I spent several hours looking into different files concentrating on the Windows
files and eventually found some of the files and deleted them. I also repeatedly ran
the virus "scans" hoping they would flush it all out. No such luck...but then I
remembered my brother-in-law installing a "Free" anti-virus on my Desktop and I
"ran" it. It found all the components of the Trojan, quarantined and deleted all of it.
Gone!

At first, I didn't believe it. Here I am paying monthly for all this security stuff and this
Free one did the job and I had control of my computer back again. On the Laptop, I
downloaded the same system and "fired it up". In 16 minutes it found 64 threats on
the Laptop and I was done...rebooted and it was purring like a kitten.

By running the free anti spyware in the beginning, I would of saved a lot of wasted time.
You can download this fantastic time saver free at SUPERAntiSpyware.com. If you do a
search on Google it's the first item you'll see.

I hope this article is of some help to you if you are unlucky enough to have your computer
infected with a virus. Unfortunately, it will happen at some point, but if you use the
SuperAntiSpyware it will save you a lot of headache and perhaps money if you normally
take it to a shop and get it de-Trojaned
