The "Lure"
The first goal of an Advertiser or Marketer is to catch and hold an onlooker's
attention for longer than a second or two. The prospect lingers and begins to
have a closer look of what the advertisement, splash page, or website is all about
...that right mix of graphics and eye-catching "header" has accomplished what
the designer has created it for.
Million and even billions are spent on and offline always improving or creating
a different angle advertisement...always trying to outdo the competition. The
ultimate lure...oh yeah! This one will reel them in...guaranteed.
It's not very often a surf will make me stop and look for very long...the splash and
home pages are all about the same with a different arrangement...I just linger
when I see an attractive compensation plan.
This morning I came across a site that me slam on the brakes and have an admiring
look at the homepage of a new manual surf just launched today. Cool! The graphics
and design are awesome and the best I have seen yet. Surfing Avenue has the "right
stuff" when it comes to catching the eye of someone surfing through a "rotator" on
an advertising site. Ever been on an autosurf with a very fast timer and you see a site
and start reading. Holy cow!...The pause button! Where is it? Geez...too late...it's gone.
I remember in my early days online, reading about what I am describing here..."it's all
in the Header". If you don't put the "lure" in the header of the page...99% of the people
will keep on going, specially if you don't put an eye-catching phrase or "slogan" there.
You don't have to go overboard either just make it appealing and to the point. We have
all seen those headers..."You can make Millions!!"...all aglow and flashing. Yah right and
I just keep on truckin'. Blatant lies won't do it either. Anyway...I assume you get my point
and even if your a novice, engineering together a website or splash page...the top 1/4
of a page is all most people see on the rotators in surfs, so make it count.
