Sir...Could I See Your Surfing License and Registration Please?
Did you ever get a ticket for speeding or some other infraction? I've had my share
and every time it's a mix of emotions. Panic, anger and then the realization that I'm
caught. That's a nice shiny badge you have there officer and I see you keep your
weapon in tip top shape and at the ready.
"Can I see your license and registration sir?" I guess that didn't go over too good.
"Yes sir!", nothing like those red and blue lights coming on and snapping me out
of my trance of staring down the road. "Can't be me?" Why do they linger so long
before they get out of their patrol car? I know! They want me to stew in my guilt
for awhile.
This morning I logged into my Forum Traffic account and was greeted with my
account being suspended and contact the Admin. Oh Geez! I quickly remembered
something about an update from Klaus, the Admin, a few days back. Normally,
I translate the German and see what it's all about but I was very busy at the time.
Hmmmm...something about going through accounts and I assumed it was about
deleting Free members who haven't upgraded in the last 30 days.
Never assume! It turns out Klaus and his team were going through accounts, checking
sites that are in violation of the "Terms and Conditions" of the autosurf. Guess who's
account they had to pause at...delete a site, suspend and fine? Yep....me! This I found
out after I infiltrated the "Forum Traffic" Forum and was confronted with very active threads
but all in German.
Eventually I read what was happening and did the PM or "Personal Message" thing
to the Administrator, which I assume is Klaus, quickly found out what I was in violation
of and had to pay a $25 fine to reactivate my account. OK...I'm guilty, paid my fine and
my suspension was lifted. Seems the site I was advertising had "sound" on it which
is against the rules. I didn't realize it because I never had my computer's speakers on.
Klaus has cleaned house before so this is not new...only to me and members that
can't read German. So...that was a lot of excitement for a Sunday morning. First time
I ever got fined online...feel better now that I paid it and square with Klaus. From all
this, I learned a big lesson....never assume! Read and understand program updates,
Terms and Conditions and/or rules because it could actually cost you money!
