Farewell To The Fraser and an Ad2Million Update

In a previous article called... HMCS Fraser and The Vault , I wrote about my
fond ties to a Canadian Navy destroyer starting when I first walked onboard
in the late 70's.

The Fraser made headline news where she was put under arrest and a court
case hearing would reveal her fate a couple weeks ago

With a heavy heart I learned the Fraser has left Halifax Harbour for the last
time with a Tug towing her on a final journey around Nova Scotia and up
the St. Lawrence river to a scrap yard in Ontario. She has had some historic
artifacts removed by the Navy in the past and more will be saved before she
is cut down. Probably items like the Ship's wheel and bell.

Looking at the picture above... where she is being towed out of the harbour,
I was onboard in the spring after a "refit" in Montreal, Quebec, being towed
back down the St.Lawrence river to Halifax. Towing us, was one of the most
powerful icebreakers in the world, the Louis S St-Laurent . I was only a young
"gaffer" back then in the "hip" 70's

I was on the bridge when the tow line snapped as we were going through
heavy river ice. Adrift, we were headed for the pillars of a bridge that spanned
the river. The Captain ordered the engines to be on standby but with the heavy
pack ice she was stuck tight as the current moved her closer to those concrete
pillars.

With the Captain and officers nervously pacing the deck and a helicopter uselessly
circling overhead...a big cheer went up when we saw two powerful tugs steaming
toward us with black smoke towering out of their stacks..diesels at the max.

Still seemed like an eternity at the time but they quickly pushed in through the ice
and came alongside pushing us back into the middle of the river where the Louis
S. St-Laurent
waited to "hook up" once again. The "St. Laurent" was too big to turn
and come to our rescue where she could of caused some major damage if she
happened to accidently ram into us.

Excitement for a young sailor of 19 years old for sure and experiencing the night life
in the city of Montreal during refit was quite an eye opener as well. I won't go there
but I think you get the picture...lol

Closing for today, the cycler... Ad2Million is certainly one of the online highlights at
the close of this summer here in Canada. Over 300 members now and I'm very
pleased with it's performance to date.

An alternative where experienced HYIP players figure the HYIP niche is at a standstill
and more are investing in long running...long term programs. I'll touch more on that
subject in my next article.

Farewell Fraser...at this time, she is already up the St. Lawrence river into the province
of Quebec getting closer to her final docking and demolition.
